I know that it has been a while since I last posted, but I had an ear infection and I have been super busy. As part of my Fulbright grant, I am a volunteer teacher at the nursing school of my host insititution while in Bangalore. I am teaching Anatomy & Physiology, English, and Health/Physical Assessment to 3 different classes of 30 students. I have been teaching 3 classes twice a week. I enjoy teaching these girls, so very much. The students are so kind and I am learning from them as much as they are learning from me. I have never taught a class before, so this has been an experience which has forced me to step out of my comfort zone. A close friend of mine, Bethany, recently told me that we don’t grow unless we step out of our comfort zone. I do get a little nervous at times, but that quickly wears off once I see how eager and attentive my students are. My A&P students tell me they miss having class – even though we have it twice a week. Who wants to go to A&P every day? These girls do! We have a lot of fun and when ideas and concepts start clicking in their minds, I get so excited and let out a ‘WOO-HOOO!!!’ while raising my arms up – like I have just won the lottery. They LOVE it when I do this!! I am probably unlike any teacher they have ever had. The professors at the school are brilliant and they have given me encouragement and the free-range to teach how I want to and have full control over my classes. Other than teaching, I have experienced a painful ear infection, which came to be during my trip to Bodhgaya in Northeastern India a few weeks ago, so I haven’t been able to update my travel blog until now.
