Sheroes’ Hangout is where we had lunch after visting the Taj Mahal. It was my second time to be here, and I wanted to take Dylan. This cafe is operated by women who have survived a most heinous crime; they are survivors of acid attacks. Their website is currently down, but you can find Sheroes’ Hangout on all social media platforms: facebook, twitter, and instagram.
Trip Advisor says this about Sheroes’: “Sheroes, here, are mostly women who have fought back for life and survival through heinous chemical burns and are now, on a course to define themselves as ‘fighters’. Courageous fighters who walk with scars. And this Hangout is where empowerment of women no more remains a widely funded phenomena, but materialises in form of a readers’ cafe, an activism workshop, a community radio hub.”
Here is a great article that I found online about Sheroes’ Cafe that features stories from the women that work here. The food is great, the atmosphere is cozy and the energy is positive. I think it is very important to acknowledge this issue and to support these courageous women who are starting over with their lives.
